Guinness plans: you decide who’s best equipped to represent your interests

Residents meeting
Residents at the special meeting called by Munsur Ali on 6th February / Disclaimer: appearance in this photo does not necessarily indicate support for Labour

Following residents’ concern Guinness has been obliged to rethink its plans by the City. The City says that some of the blocks are too big. This is what was revealed at the packed meeting on Feb 6 through a statement provided by the Director of Planning. At the end of this meeting you asked Munsur Ali to represent your views to Guinness.

In the meantime rumours are circulating. “Labour is opposed to the redevelopment”. This is not true. In fact Labour has been sounding out the City of London on a possible joint venture to help Guinness deliver a more viable scheme.

Labour candidate Munsur Ali says the key issues are:

1. Has Guinness got a Plan B?

2. When will it be made public?

3. Will residents be fully consulted?

4. Will Guinness improve its repairs service in the meantime?

Labour believes that you have a right to know what’s going on behind the scenes and to be fully involved in these discussions. “Communication with Guinness should not be controlled by one or two people” is what you say. We hope you agree that Labour’s commitment to local residents is what is needed from your elected representatives.

Vote Labour on 23 March – Vote for Munsur Ali and Jason Pritchard

Labour launches petition for ‘massage parlour’ investigation in both City and Tower Hamlets

Labour Party members and supporters from the City and Tower Hamlets have been out this week collecting signatures calling for an investigation by both the City and Tower Hamlets into the growing ‘massage parlour’ trade adjacent to the Middlesex Street estate.

The petition calls for licensing and other checks on statutory requirements; better logging and action in the event of public order issues, and enforcement action in the event of breaches being uncovered.
